Back When: Green

The summer recruiting season is in full-swing. Unfortunately, real, live college football is still a couple of months away.

With that in mind, TheClemsonInsider is taking a look back at the recruitment of each returning player on the Clemson roster.

Clemson’s pursuit of Green was short, sweet and to the point.

Green committed to UAB in November of his senior season, but bigger schools came calling after his senior highlights started to circulate.

Dabo Swinney’s mid-January offer arrived right around the same time Kentucky and California stepped up. And, just as he was leaving Sylacauga for his official visit to Clemson, instate favorite Auburn finally pulled the trigger.

But an official visit to The Plains never materialized. Green committed to Dabo Swinney’s 2013 haul before leaving campus on Sunday, Jan. 27. Prior to Clemson, Green also took official visits to UAB and Cincinnati.

The three-star prospect was on Clemson’s board as an athlete/kick-returner. As a freshman, Green played wide receiver, but he switched to safety at the conclusion of the season.

Green has emerged as a key component in Clemson’s impressive defensive back class of 2013, which also included Jayron Kearse, Mackensie Alexander, Korrin Wiggins, Cordrea Tankersley, Jadar Johnson, Adrian Baker, Marcus Edmond and Ryan Carter.
