Monday Morning Quarterback

This week’s Monday Morning Quarterback features the first win-loss game of the year.

A lot has happened in the last week and the news will have an impact on the Clemson Tigers title chances.

As we know Clemson lost starting left tackle Isaiah Battle due to his entry into the NFL Supplemental Draft following a June 11 citation for speeding and simple possession of marijuana. Kicker Ammon Lakip has been suspended indefinitely by head coach Dabo Swinney following his June 6 arrest for driving under the influence and simple possession of cocaine.

Both were big blows to a Clemson team many expect to be the favorite to win the ACC this fall.

So what does this all mean exactly on June 29? Well, it means the Tigers get a few extra weeks to prepare true freshman Mitch Hyatt to be the starter at left tackle, and redshirt freshman Alex Spence to prep himself to be the starting kicker.

As for the win-loss game, it definitely changes the way I look at the Tigers’ season, which begins in nine weeks on Sept. 5 at home against Wofford.
