Impact Freshmen – Christian Wilkins

With fall camp just a few weeks away The Clemson Insider.com takes a look at which true freshmen will have an impact on the 2015 season for the Tigers.

One incoming freshman that will see the field early and often is Five-star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins.

Grady Jarrett, Josh Watson and DeShawn Williams are all off to the NFL and will not be running down the Hill when the Tigers open the 2015 season agianst Wofford on Sept. 5. Depth at defensive tackle is one of the big question marks heading into the season. The good news for Clemson is help is on the way with Wilkins.

Wilkins could have the biggest impact of any freshman this season. The Tigers haven’t had a defensive tackle in may years that has arrived with the talent of the Suffield, Conn., All-American.

Expect Wilkins to make the two deep quickly as camp gets underway and by the time the season starts in September he should be ready to see significant snaps. Watkins and Reader give the Tigers two very talented defensive tackles and Wilkins will give them a third.

Defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks will be working hard in camp to help Wilkins learn the defense as quickly as possible. Once that goal is accomplished it will be hard to keep Wilkins off the field. Expect to see him in the opponents backfield often this season.
