Four-star defensive tackle [autotag]Nyles Pinckney[/autotag] was in Clemson with his mom and dad last Friday night for the fourth-annual All-In Cookout.
The family was back in town on Wednesday for another in-depth look at [autotag]Clemson[/autotag].
“It was good just being up there with coach (Dabo) Swinney, coach (Tony) Elliott and coach (Dan) Brooks, spending some time, not just talking about football, but talking about my family, taking a break from football,” Pinckney told TheClemsonInsider, when asked about the Cookout.
That trip had almost no conversation about football.
“They were talking to me about my summer’s been, how everything is with me and my family, how are things going and everything like that. It was some personal stuff, getting to know me as a person,” Pinckney said.
The rising senior from Seabrook-Whale Branch enjoyed the evening.
“We were dancing, talking, and laughing,” he said “It was funny seeing coach Swinney dance. It really makes you feel like he’s a down-to-earth coach, and it just feels like he doesn’t see himself above anybody. He sees himself just like everybody else.”
Football was the primary topic during his return visit a few days later.
“(Wednesday) was to see the football part of it and take the tour of everything over again. They told us about the new facilities they’re building and the weight room and everything, and just talking to coach Swinney, coach Elliott and coach Brooks,” Pinckney said.
On Friday, he’ll visit South Carolina for the Gamecocks’ social event. A decision is also in the works, though no date has been set.
“At this point, it’s going to probably be in August when I get back to school. My coaches want me to wait when I get back to school,” Pinckney said.
