Bates joins the TCI staff

Gabrielle Bates is the newest member of The Clemson Insider staff.

Bates, a senior at Clemson University, will help TCI with writing and video production. As an undergrad, she is a sports communications major with a minor in athletic leadership.

Though she is still working towards her degree, Bates comes to TCI with plenty of experience. She was a member of TigerVision, a Clemson student run television network, where she was a sports anchor for a newscast and the host and producer of her own sports talk show, The Extra Point.

“I’m very excited about working for TCI,” Bates said. “This is a great opportunity for me as I continue to pursue by dream of working in television production.”

Bates plans on extending her education after she graduates from Clemson by getting her masters in journalism.

“Gabby will be a valuable asset to our TCI Family,” Publisher Robert MacRae said. “She brings a lot of energy, and she is very enthusiastic about helping TCI continue to be the best source for Clemson information and recruiting.”

Bates is from Williston, S.C., where she attended Jefferson Davis Academy, and lettered on the basketball team. She also worked at the Clemson Extension Office in Barnwell County during the summer months.

Bates grew up in a Clemson Family and is a lifelong Tiger fan. She is a passionate sports enthusiast, who inspires to one day work in television, while turning her passion into her job.

“Gabby is going to be a great addition to our staff,” MacRae said. “She truly loves Clemson and she truly loves sports. She is invested and we believe that kind of investment will only help her grow as well as TCI.

“She has a lot of great ideas and her experience in television production will allow TCI to produce fresh and unique content. We are very excited about Gabby being on our team.”
