One of the early candidates for billing as the top instate player for the class of 2018 plays high school ball at Spartanburg Day School.
[autotag]Zion Williamson[/autotag], a 6-4 wing, runs with the SC Hornets on the AAU circuit. Before he hit the road for the July recruiting circuit, Williamson visited Clemson.
It was during that late June visit with 2017 five-star guard Devontae Shuler when Clemson pulled the trigger on an offer.
“When they offered us, they said they wanted to bring us in person. They brought me in and kind of showed me around the school a little bit, then they offered me. They were telling me about their program and stuff,” Williamson recently told TheClemsonInsider.
Wofford has also offered Williamson, who’s being recruited to Clemson by assistant coach [autotag]Steve Smith[/autotag].
“I understood what they were saying,” Williamson said. “I do kind of want to stay in state and kind of rep South Carolina, basketball-wise, so right now, I kind of love what they’re saying and doing at Clemson.”
Later this month, he’ll head to South Carolina and Virginia for camp. In addition, UNC, N.C. State and Stanford are also starting to show interest.
As a freshman, Williamson averaged 24 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks per game.
