Brent Venables and Marion Hobby offered Matos after his strong showing during the Saturday camp practices.
“They were just talking to me about different things, as far as academics and the kind of people that they recruit, and the team. And they were talking about adversity, trying to push through adversity,” Matos said.
Trip three was for his parents.
“My parents never came with me for the junior day, but they brought me down for the camp and saw a little bit of the campus, but I really wanted them to see the whole campus and see what I saw the first time I went down there, so I convinced them to come down again,” Matos said.
Clemson has made a lasting impression. He’ll return next month for the Georgia Tech game.
“I love the feeling I get from the team and the coaches there, and the community around,” Matos said. “People, there are just great people. I met with some ofthe academic advisors. They’re very high on academics and it shows.
“Honestly, I just like Clemson. Everything about it is really good.”
Earlier this season, Matos went to Virginia for the Notre Dame game. He also went to the Virgnia Tech-Ohio State game.
Matos will head to Penn State this Friday and Duke is scheduled to host him the following weekend.
Clemson, Duke, Penn State, Virgina and Virginia Tech have all offered, so have UNC, Maryland, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt and West Virginia.
“As far as favorites, I haven’t really put a number on any school yet,” Matos said.
