Four-star defensive end Yetur Matos returned to Clemson on Saturday with his family and one of his teammates from Chancellor High School in Fredericksburg, Va.
“It was exciting. I really enjoyed being down there, having the chance to visit the coaches and the players. It was fun,” Matos told TheClemsonInsider on Sunday night.
Matos visited Clemson twice during the summer: first for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp and again with his parents a few weeks later.
On Saturday he was joined by George Brown, a 2017 defensive tackle who’s drawing interest from several ACC schools.
Matos spoke with Brent Venables and Marion Hobby.
“I just talked to (Venables) briefly. We talked about the program and my past game Friday, then he had to go really quick,” Matos said.
The conversation with Hobby was a little more in-depth.
“We talked about his family. They were there. He was at my game on Friday, so we talked about that a little bit. We talked about their game, preparing for that, and some other stuff, as far as recruiting,” Matos said.
The 6-5, 235-pound prospect had 12 tackles, two sacks and a pass breakup in Chancellor’s 36-31 loss to James River on Friday night.
Saturday’s trip to Clemson was his first game day experience in Tigertown.
“Really just the fans and the energy in the stadium, and the excitement — it was an electric atmosphere in the stadium,” Matos said. “It was something to experience.”
Matos will visit N.C. State for the Clemson game on Halloween. He’s also scheduled to visit Duke on Nov. 14.
Along with those three schools, Matos has offers from Penn State, UNC, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
There is no list of favorites.
“I haven’t really decided on any of that,” he said.
