The TCI staff of Ed McGranahan, Hale McGranahan, Will Vandervort, William Qualkinbush and Robert MacRae go Around the Horn to answer some of the questions surrounding Clemson athletics and college football.
How does Clemson improves on last week’s game?
Robert MacRae – The simple answer is they don’t. We may never see as dominant a performance against a decent team on the road. What you hope to see if your a Clemson fan is consistency moving forward. If the Tigers play with that kind of effort and execution on both sides of the ball the rest of the year they will have a legitimate shot at winning another national championship. The Tigers dominated both sides of the ball against the Canes. There are a few things they could improve on with special teams and they can be fixed easily with personnel. One area for improvement will be with the depth as they continue to gain confidence with more snaps.
Will Vandervort: To be better this week, the Tigers just have to take care of the football and execute. It’s that simple. When this team is focused, there isn’t anything they can’t do. It will be hard to top last week’s effort, but the ultimate goal is to be one point better than the guy you are playing. To be better this week, the Tigers just have to win. In the end, that is all that really matters, right?
Hale McGranahan – I don’t think it’s possible. Clemson played about as flawless a football game I’ve ever seen. Dabo could have easily broken the 70 that was hung on him him a few years ago, but he called off the dogs. Shoot, if it wasn’t for a long TD run by Kelly Bryant and a nice interception return by Van Smith, it wouldn’t have even gotten to 58. I mean, Clemson beat Miami worse than they’ve ever been beaten. I don’t think you can improve on what happened last week. Maybe they could have Deshaun Watson could throw for more yards. Or maybe the defense could just not allow N.C. State to gain any yards.
Ed McGranahan – How about a “ditto” performance. There’s no need to Improve.
