Four-star cornerback Trajan Bandy has been too busy helping Miami-Columbus win its first nine games of the season.
That’s why the 2017 prospect has yet to take any college visits this season.
“I didn’t want to go on a bunch of unofficial visits and leave my team behind, because we have something big that we’re trying to do this year,” Bandy said. “I was trying to be a team player, put the team first.”
A break between the end of the regular season and the first-round of the state playoffs will allow Bandy to make the trek north for his first visit to Clemson. He’ll be among many visitors for next weekend’s game against Florida State.
“I’m looking forward to getting up there and seeing how it is,” Bandy said.
Clemson got an in-person look at Bandy in September when defensive backs coach Mike Reed went to Columbus’ game against Belen Jesuit.
“It shows me the type of person he is and I can tell that he really wants me to play at Clemson,” Bandy said. “He’s a great guy. He’s showing recruits some love, to watch them play. It’s like an honor. It’s a blessing to have a coach come all the way down from South Carolina to Miami to watch me play.
“That’s big time. I was really excited that he came down to see me play.”
Along with Clemson, Alabama, Nebraska and Tennessee have also offered, among others.
Bandy was impressed with what he saw from Clemson last weekend when the Tigers pounded Miami.
“I was very impressed with the defense and the way they handled U-M. They played a good game,” he said. “I didn’t think it was going to be a blow-out like that. I was watching the game and I was looking at the defense, and I was like, ‘Man, this is a very good team.’ I can tell by the staff, they have a good relationship and everything is going great.”
