Eli White, Adam Renwick, Chris Williams and Jordan Greene totaled three hits apiece to lead Orange to a 10-3 win over the Purple at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday in the first of three Orange & Purple Scrimmages. The final two scrimmages are Saturday (seven innings) at 10 a.m., at Doug Kingsmore Stadium and Sunday at 2 p.m., at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C. Admission is free to both contests.
Orange scored three runs in the first inning and four runs in the third inning to build a 7-1 lead. Robert Jolly hit a two-run single in the first inning, then Maleeke Gibson belted a two-run double in the third inning to highlight the uprisings.
Jolly had a game-high three RBIs, while Renwick hit a double, triple and scored a game-high three runs for the Orange team, who tallied 19 hits, including five doubles and a triple.
Glenn Batson led the Purple squad by going 2-for-4 with two runs. Mike Triller added two hits and Brooks Crawford had two RBIs.
Orange starter Clate Schmidt tossed 4.2 effective and allowed just two earned runs. Alex Schnell pitched 3.1 scoreless innings of two-hit ball with three strikeouts to earn the win.
