Overton returns to Clemson

Diondre Overton is ready to get down to the nitty-gritty of his recruitment.

The four-star wide receiver from Greensboro-Page has been to Clemson twice this fall for unofficials, first for the Notre Dame game and again on Saturday for Florida State. He was also in Raleigh last weekend on an unofficial to see the Tigers and Wolfpack.

Clemson, NC State, Tennessee, UNC and Nebraska are among the group of five vying for his commitment, which will be announced on Jan. 3 at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl.

“Nothing scheduled, but I’m going to try to get my officials scheduled now that I have my NCAA eligibility,” Overton said.

While in Clemson on Saturday, Overton spent a lot of time with 2017 Greensboro-Dudley quarterback Hendon Hooker. He also caught up with 2016 Clemson wide receiver pledge T.J. Chase.

“Getting back down there, it was great. The crowd was really into it. It was the loudest crowd that I’ve ever seen,” Overton said.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound prospect liked what he saw from Clemson on the field.

“The thing that impressed me was how they fought through the adversity,” Overton said. “They were down at the beginning and they came back, came out of halftime strong and they just got the win.”
