After Dabo Swinney blessed out a reporter for asking about Clemsoning in a post-game press conference, TCI hit up several of the Tigers’ top recruits for their thoughts.
Charlotte-Mallard Creek offensive lineman Eric Douglas said:
“I absolutely loved it. Made me want to play for Dabo even more. I would say they lead.”
The three-star offensive tackle visited Clemson last Saturday for the Florida State game.
“Clemson was awesome. The coaches, all of the assistants, they treated me with love, just talking to them,” Douglas said. “The environment was crazy. It was one of the hypest game of the year, obviously. It was nice to see them win and come out on top.”
Douglas spent time with offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell and tight ends coach Danny Pearman, who serves as his recruiter of record. He also got to know their assistants, Thomas Austin and Durrell Barry.
What impressed Douglas the most about the Tigers’ play on the field?
“Just their resiliency and the swag they go out there on the field with. They play hard until the whistle and just showing up in the big games, just showing the nation why they’re No. 1.”
Clemson still leads.
“Every time I go up there, they emphasize the academic standpoint,” Douglas said. “That’s really true and not only are the coaches preaching it, the fans are preaching it. As I walked back to my car, they said, ‘If you don’t have football to rely on…you’ve still got a Clemson degree.'”
