Helmet Stickers

COLUMBIA — TCI hands out helmet stickers after Clemson’s 37-32 win over South Carolina.

There were several worthy candidates in the regular-season finale.

Deon Cain

A giant void was created when Mike Williams went down with a neck injury in the season-opener. Gone from Clemson’s high-powered offense was the best option in the downfield passing game. Once again, Cain proved himself to be a more-than-capable replacement. The freshman from Tampa caught five passes for 96 yards against the Gamecocks. His touchdown, a 55-yard strike from Deshaun Watson, staked the Tigers to an early 14-0 lead.

Wayne Gallman

The Wayne Train had another big afternoon.  Gallman had 19 carries for 109 yards, joining Watson as one of two backs to top the century-mark on Saturday. He also caught a pass for four yards.

Offensive Line

Clemson trotted out Mitch Hyatt, Eric Mac Lain, Jay Guillermo, Maverick Morris and Joe Gore for the game’s first two series. Tyrone Crowder, the regular starter at right guard, made his appearance on the third drive. The group helped pave the way for 100-yard afternoons by Gallman and Watson, who was not sacked. The Tigers’ offense finished with 515 total yards.

Defensive Ends

Shaq Lawson and Kevin Dodd made life miserable for nearly every quarterback that took a snap from center for South Carolina. Perry Orth, Lorenzo Nunez and Pharoh Cooper all called signals for the Gamecocks. Lawson and Dodd each had a sack. They also combined for nine total tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss.

B.J. Goodson

Once again, Goodson was a tackling machine for Brent Venables. The Tigers’ middle linebacker had 12 tackles (six solo), three tackles for loss and a sack.
