Recruits react to 12-0

Just hours after Clemson finished the 2015 season with an undefeated record, TCI began reaching out to recruits.

We asked one question:

Now that the season is over, what do you think of what Clemson’s done, getting to 12-0 and being the No. 1 team in the country?

“They had a great season and they played well.”

– John Simpson, 2016 OL Fort Dorchester

“It shows that Clemson has an amazing program with phenomenal players and coaches. They play together and both offense and defense execute well enough to win games. I believe it’s pretty impressive.”

– Diondre Overton, 2016 WR Greensboro-Page (N.C.)

“It wasn’t shocking. I already knew my boys was gone do it.”

– Shi Smith, 2017 WR Union

“Pretty cool. I’m definitely impressed.”

– Trevor Lawrence, 2018 QB Cartersville (Ga.)

“It’s a great accomplishment. They have a huge chance on going to win the national title and to win it all.”

– Eric Crosby, 2017 DT Virginia Beach-Ocean Lakes (Va.)

“At the end of the day, you’re fighting for that first and they got the athletes to do it and coaches to get it done.”

– J.J. Robinson, 2017 WR Lakeland (Fla.)

“I think it’s a great reflection of the way they run their program and the brand of football they play. I love it.”

– Matt Bockhorst, 2017 OL Cincinnati-St. Xavier (Ohio)

“I really don’t know how to describe it. They are playing their hearts out and they deserve what thye are getting. They work their tails off. Coach (Dabo) Swinney deserves this. He has built a wonderful program of academics combined with football.”

– Xavier Thomas, 2018 DE Florence-Wilson

“Clemson made a statement this year that they are a force to be reckoned with.”

– Zachary Carter, 2017 DE Tampa-Hillsborough (Fla.)

“Clemson is on a roll. I could see them going all the way and winning it.”

– Ryan Jones, 2017 WR Charlotte-Mallard Creek (N.C.)

“I think it’s awesome what they’ve accomplished up to this point, but they still have some big games to win.”

– Blake Vinson, 2017 OT Winter Garden-North Marion (Fla.)

“That’s a great thing because they can make history happen.”

– Cyrus Fagan, 2017 S Daytona-Mainland

“I think they had a great season when it came to clutch time, they weren’t nervous or anything. They were calm and got the job done.”

“I think it’s a great accomplishment, but I like Clemson also because of their staff and Dabo. You would love to play for him, honestly.”

– J.T. Cauthen, 2017 WR Waxhaw-Cuthbertson (N.C.)

“I think the team worked really hard. The coaching staff stayed on their players and Clemson never lost focus.”

– Trajan Bandy, 2017 CB Miami-Columbus (Fla.)

“I love what they have done. When I went on my visit, it felt like home. I like the energy of the program. I like that it’s close. My parents like Clemson. I love that they are the No. 1 team in the country.”

– Owen Pappoe, 2019 LB Loganville-Grayson (Ga.)

“I think they are one of the best football teams I’ve ever seen and believe that they deserve to be at the top right now.”

– Tyson Campbell, 2018 DB Plantation-American Heritage (Fla.)

“They deserve it. I knew it’ll come sooner or later for them.”

– Malik Herring, 2017 DE Forsyth-Mary Persons (Fla.)

“I’ve been very impressed by their season and hope they finish up strong.”

– Jordan Anthony, 2017 LB IMG Academy

“I think it’s a great accomplishment, both for the coaching staff and the seniors, plus their team is pretty young. Just them beating teams and staying in that No. 1 poll…I think being No. 1 in the country and how they have handled it shows a lot of maturity. They go out there and take care of business.”

– Chase Brice, 2017 QB Loganville-Grayson
