Clemson added its third offensive line commitment in as many days when Cade Stewart flipped from Georgia Southern.
Last month, Clemson offered Stewart as a greyshirt, which allows him to join the team as a scholarship player in January. He decided to accept the offer on Sunday night with his family.
“It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” Stewart said. “Being near my family, all around, it was a better decision.”
Clemson picked up commitments from 2017 targets Matt Bockhorst and Blake Vinson over the weekend. Stewart’s news went public on Monday night.
“It’s a blessing. Just growing up as a little kid, I wanted to be a Clemson Tiger one day, but now I’m actually getting to do that,” Stewart said. “Now it’s a blessing a dream come true.”
Former Clemson offensive lineman Will Young, who’s also from Daniel, coached Stewart in the Shrine Bowl last December.
“Cade is just a big-ol-nasty, country boy,” Young said. “Typical offensive guard that does a good job. Very physical kid. Runs really well. He does a good job on his pulls. Typical Daniel lineman, a nasty, country boy.”
