The Clemson Insider has learned that wide receiver Germone Hopper is no longer on the Clemson football team.

Multiple sources have confirmed Hopper has left the team.  The decision was Hopper’s and was not related to any disciplinary action.  Hopper is currently enrolled in classes at Clemson.

On Feb. 3, TCI reported that Hopper was not attending team activities and had not met some of his academic responsibilities.

Hopper finished his Clemson career with 71 receptions for 797 yards and six touchdowns. This past season, he hauled in 21 catches for 317 yards and a touchdown, and finished second the team with 15.1 yards per reception (minimum of 20).

His best season was in 2014, when he caught a career-high 27 passes for a career-best 331 yards and three touchdowns. Hopper’s best game came against North Carolina when he had three receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns in the Clemson’s 50-35 victory in Death Valley. The Charlotte native caught a 74-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson and a 50-yard scoring pass.

At the end of that season, against Oklahoma in the Russell Athletic Bowl, he made a diving, over-the-shoulder catch in the end zone, which completed a 24-yard scoring play in Clemson’s 40-6 victory.

Hopper’s best game in 2015 was against Wake Forest. In the 33-13 win, he grabbed three catches for 129 yards, including a 47-yard touchdown pass from Watson.
