Pickens happy to have Clemson

Zacch Pickens got word of Clemson’s offer from a friend, who saw the news pop up on Twitter  last Tuesday morning.

The T.L. Hanna defensive end in is different than your average high school kid.

“I don’t have Twitter or anything like that,” he said.

Pickens is 6-foot-4, 240-pound monster of a freshman. Florida State was his first offer. Florida State, UNC and South Carolina have offered, too.

Scooping one up from Clemson was special.

“I felt happy about it, because they’ve been getting me to a lot of games,” Pickens said.

The Clemson staff invited him to campus on Saturday for Junior Day.

“It was amazing. They took the time to tell us about stuff that I really didn’t know that they had,” Pickens said.

Defensive ends coach Marion Hobby was at his side for a portion of the day.

“He was like, the main thing if you come here is that I’m going to be on top of your grades and stuff,” Pickens said.

Clemson hosted him for several games in the fall. He also went to Florida State and South Carolina for games.

As a freshman, Pickens had 98 tackles, seven tackles for loss, six sacks and two pass breakups.
