Thursday recruiting notes

On Wednesday night, Clemson offered another South Florida defender from the 2017 class.

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. safety Amari Carter was the recipient an offer from Clemson. Arkansas, Duke, Miami, Notre Dame and West Virginia are among those that have already pulled the trigger.

Carter, who’s listed at 6-2, 180, has a unique offseason workout program. The three-star football player also boxes.

“I actually just started it, but I’m looking forward to continuing it,” he said. “It’s great training and I see it really helping me out and translating onto the field.”

A southpaw in the ring, Carter is listed by Rivals as the No. 35 safety in the class of 2017.

In January, while the Clemson football team was preparing for the national championship game, Brad Brownell and the basketball staff was busy hosting one of the top 2017 prospects in the country.

Four-star power forward Malik William watched Clemson beat Louisville on Jan. 10. In addition to watching the game in Greenville, the 6-foot-8, 200-pound prospect from The First Academy in Orlando, Fla. saw the Clemson campus.

“How everything is right their in walking distance and there is a variety of things you can do,” he said.

UConn and UCF have also offered. More are certain to follow, but there’s some appeal with Clemson.

“The coaching staff and how everybody gets along with each other on the court and that they play in one of the best conference in America,” William said.
