Winston-Salem, NC – Wake Forest jumped on Clemson with three early home runs and held on for a 6-4 win to open ACC play for both teams.
Charlie Barnes didn’t have his best night for the Tigers. Barnes went 6.1 innings and gave up six hits, six runs and six earned runs. Brooks Crawford pitched well in relief going 1.2 innings and only giving up one hit and no runs.
“We were down 6-0 and Charlie did a really good job of hanging in there and keeping us in the ballgame. He got deep into the ballgame and didn’t give up anything else. We have to find a way to get Craig out. He is one of the best hitters in the country. We did battle back. We found a way to get back in this game,” Lee told TheClemsonInsider.com following the loss.
Robert Jolly and Reed Rohlman went 2-4 from the plate for the Tigers. Seth Beer and Chase Pinder both homered for Clemson.
