Chigoziem Okonkwo, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound wide receiver from Powders Springs, Ga., visited Clemson earlier this month for Junior Day.
It was trip No. 1 to Tigertown for the 2018 prospect from Hillgrove High School.
“It was great. I had a very great time. For my first visit to Clemson, I had a great time, a lot of other prospects down there,” Okonkwo said. “Overall, I just loved what the coaches preached to us. They want us to get our education — that’s what my mom always tells me.
“They want us to come over there and not just be apart of the football, but be apart of the family.”
Wide receivers coach Jeff Scott told Okonkwo that he hopes to see him again later this summer.
“He said he liked my highlight film and told me to come down to the camp and that stuff,” Okonkwo said.
And he certainly wants to return
“I loved the campus. I was really excited to see how the players lived. It’s really nice…both of my sisters are in college and what they get is nicer than what they have. I was really excited to see the new facility that is being built,” Okonkwo said.
Florida and UCF have hosted him for visits this year. Trips to Tennessee and Vanderbilt are coming up later this spring.
“I’m definitely going to the Clemson camp, because I love Clemson a lot,” Okonkwo said. “I’m going to the Georgia camp, because I live in Georgia and all the other camps around.”
As a sophomore, he had 20 catches for 300 yards and three touchdowns.
