Cook talks Clemson offer

A handful of days after seeing one of his favorite cornerbacks, Mackensie Alexander, get drafted, Anthony Cook was presented with an opportunity to follow in his footsteps at Clemson.

On Wednesday, Cook, a 2018 four-star cornerback from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas, announced on Twitter that he received an offer from the Tigers.

As a sophomore in 2015, Cook intercepted six passes and returned three for touchdowns.

Cook — who also has offers from Arizona, Baylor, Georgia, Houston, Kansas, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas-San Antonio — recently spoke with The Clemson Insider about his latest offer, and more.

How did you find out about Clemson’s offer?

Cook: “My coach told me about it. He called me to his office and told me Coach (Brent) Venables decided to offer me.”

Have you been able to build a relationship with Venables or any of the other coaches yet?

Cook: “I haven’t really talked with any of the coaching staff. My mom and I are looking to visit this summer.”

What aspect or aspects of your game do you think Clemson likes?

Cook: “Well I feel like they love my physicality and versatility. I can play man-to-man or I could utilize my pedal and play off-technique.”

What stands out to you about Clemson?

Cook: “I will say that I love the fact that Clemson had one of my favorite college football cornerbacks, Mackensie Alexander. Plus, they run a lot of man. I feel like I would fit into the program well. Besides football, they have a high graduation rate, and that’s the main thing to me.

“I will definitely consider Clemson.”
