William Barnes has had a big month on the recruiting front as teams have decided he would be a good fit for their front lines.
Five of the nine schools that have offered Barnes, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive lineman in the 2018 class from Apopka, Fla., have done so in June.
Florida was first on June 4 before South Carolina (June 13), Duke (June 14), N.C. State (June 15) and Florida State (June 18) followed suit. Barnes also has offers from Miami, North Carolina, Tennessee and USF.
Currently, his leaders are Florida, Florida State, Miami and UNC.
If Clemson offers, it would join those schools at the top.
“It would mean a lot to me (if Clemson offered),” Barnes said in an interview with The Clemson Insider. “I’ve liked Clemson since I was a freshman, and they are definitely one of my top schools.”
Barnes was present for the second session of the Dabo Swinney Camp, and he is optimistic about his chances of receiving an offer from the Tigers.
“I think one may come soon,” he said.
Barnes had a ball at camp.
“It was great,” Barnes said. “I had a great time at the camp, and it was a lot of fun.
“Getting to see the campus, especially the stadium — it was beautiful.”
Barnes has also visited Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Miami and North Carolina this summer. He plans on going to Alabama and Auburn, as well.
He’s enjoying the ride the recruiting process has taken him on.
“It’s been really great,” Barnes said. “I’m enjoying the recruiting process a lot, going to different schools and enjoying the campuses. I truly am blessed.”
