4-star ATH Chatman: ‘It was a great visit’ to Clemson

Virginia Beach (Va.) Bayside 2018 wide receiver/cornerback Armani Chatman visited Clemson on Friday with Virginia Beach-Bishop Sullivan Catholic five-star linebacker Teradja Mitchell.

Mitchell said he “loved everything” about the trip to Clemson, and Chatman expressed similar sentiments.

“It was a great visit overall,” Chatman told The Clemson Insider. “This was more of a defensive visit for me. They are showing lots of love for me playing DB.”

Chatman was impressed by the atmosphere and facilities on site.

“The campus was way better than I expected,” Chatman said. “Love how the (new) facility will look in 2017, and I love the school and their mentality overall.”

The 6-foot, 180-pounder had the opportunity to meet several of Clemson’s coaches while there.

“I met the whole defensive staff including the defensive coordinator,” Chatman said.

Chatman and Mitchell also visited Florida State on Saturday.

“FSU was an amazing place,” Chatman said. “I’m hoping I get the offer.”

Chatman currently has offers from N.C. State, Rutgers and Virginia Tech, and as of right now they are all on equal footing.

“I have no early leaders,” Chatman said. “It’s fair game right now.”

Chatman said he hopes to return to Clemson during the upcoming season.

“I plan on going back to Clemson for the N.C. State game or Louisville,” Chatman said.

Chatman has a timetable for his commitment in mind.

“I’ll probably make the decision my senior year at the beginning of the season,” Chatman said, “but it might come early.”

Chatman is rated by 247Sports as the No. 10 player in Virginia, the nation’s No. 51 wide receiver and the nation’s No. 307 player regardless of position.

Chatman and Mitchell are headed to Georgia for a visit Sunday.
