Jones excited about matching up with Grayson

Clemson verbal commit Mike Jones and IMG will travel to Grayson High School Saturday night for a game among two national programs.

“I’m crazy excited. We just won against a really good Carol City team so I’m ready to see how we do against another popular team on such a huge stage,” Jones told The Clemson Insider.

The 4-star linebacker had a strong opening game.

“I played pretty good.  I had a few tackles and there were some things I could’ve done better. But I say for a first game it was acceptable,” said Jones.

Jones has been working hard to get others to join him in Clemson’s 2018 class.

“It’s going pretty good. Since we’re still so far from National Signing Day for 2018 it is hard to show progress publicly, but I’ve definitely been hammering Clemson to my teammates Brian Hightower and Taron Vincent and some close friends like Myles Sims and Xavier Thomas,” he said.

Jones gets a chance to go against future Clemson teammate Chase Brice Saturday night and likely some other future Tigers.

“It’s going to be live bullets. We’re Clemson family, but right now we are competitors so I’m just competing with my team,” Jones said.

Jones has been keeping in touch with the Clemson staff.

“They have just been talking about the upcoming season and seeing how I am doing,” he said.
