Player Spotlight: Ryan Carter

Ryan Carter

While there is plenty of information circling the internet about matchups, personnel and schemes that relate to Clemson and the opponents of the Tigers, The Clemson Insider decided to also dig a bit deeper into the dynamic individual personalities of Clemson’s student athletes.

This edition of Player Spotlight highlights redshirt junior defensive back Ryan Carter.

What is your favorite color?

“Red.”

What food can you not live without?

“Pasta, like lasagna.”

What is your favorite movie?

“Favorite movie would be The Dark Knight, definitely my favorite movie.”

If you could only binge watch one show on Netflix for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“Right now, I would probably say The Flash, just because I like the ‘super hero comes out on top’ type of movie or show.”

When you’re not playing football, what do you do?

When I am not playing football, I am probably just relaxing. I’m probably watching football. I like shopping. I like clothes, so probably that.

What is your favorite store to shop in?

“Probably H & M.”

How would your friends describe you?

“They would probably say I am a funny guy who laughs a lot. I don’t even know, funny guy, laughs a lot, loyal, nice, intelligent I guess.”

If you didn’t play football, what would you do?

“If I couldn’t play football and I could do anything, I would definitely travel the world. Definitely the best place to go would be Bora Bora. That is definitely some place I have to go before it is all said and done.”

Have you gone anywhere cool before?

“I went to Puerto Rico before. My family is from Trinidad, so that is like in South America, a little bit below there. I’ve been there.”

If you could meet a celebrity, who would you choose?

“Tyrann Mathieu. I just love the way he plays football. He is a guy that a lot of people counted out when he got kicked out of school, and then his measurables. He just does not care. He has that mentality that he is always a good play.”

If you could choose a walk-out song, what would it be?

“Probably that ‘Knuck if you Buck’ song,” Carter said, laughing. “It always comes on in the stadium. It just gets me hype every time I hear it, so I feel like any song that will get me hype.”

What is something that someone might not know about you?

“I love cats. When I was younger, I just grew up around them. My family always had cats. At first, I really didn’t like them, but they grew on me. I feel like a lot of people don’t like cats, so you probably wouldn’t think I’d like them.”

How many did you have growing up?

“I had like three. The first one I had ran away, unfortunately. The second one died, unfortunately.”

What about a Tiger, would you own one if you could?

“Oh yeah I would definitely have a pet Tiger if they didn’t maul me,” Carter joked.

What has been your best memory at Clemson so far?

“I would say my best memory was probably in the Orange Bowl when we won that game. I feel like we just reached a point in time where we had never been before, so it was definitely special for me to be a part of that and then play in that game.”
