The Clemson Insider has confirmed with multiple sources that head coach Dabo Swinney’s plan is to hire Lemanski Hall as a defensive coach once the NCAA approves a 10th full-time position coach.
The Division I NCAA Council proposed adding a 10th coach back in October. Currently, FBS programs can have just nine full-time assistant coaches.
Hall, who TCI spoke about in Monday’s Insider Report, is expected to be a coach on the defensive line once the ruling is passed. According to two sources these decisions were made based on Dan Brooks departure. If another defensive coach was to leave the staff this could change how Swinney decides to shuffle his staff.
Hall has worked as a defensive analysis/research development coach on Swinney’s staff the last two seasons.
Hall is a former Alabama teammate of Swinney’s as the two helped the Crimson Tide to a national championship in 1992. Hall was a first-team All-SEC linebacker and was a captain on the 1992 team. He went on to play nine seasons in the NFL for the Houston Oilers, the Chicago Bears, the Dallas Cowboys and the Minnesota Vikings.
Prior to Clemson, Hall worked as a linebackers coach and fitness instructor for seven years at Ensworth High School in Nashville, Tenn. Hall also worked in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans through the NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship. In this role, he observed NFL coaches and worked with them to evaluate players.
Hall worked as a recruiting coordinator and pro-performance director at DI Sports Training and Therapy. He also coached football and served as the strength and conditioning coach at Presbyterian Academy before moving on to Ensworth High School.
