2019 defensive back Jeremiah Gray, who’s dad Derwin played for the Carolina Panthers, continues to take an early look at some of the schools showing interest.
“Recently I’ve been to Virginia Tech and South Carolina and I really enjoyed both of them,” Gray told The Clemson Insider.
The Charlotte Christian standout has already visited Clemson as well. How does he compare the two programs?
“You know I think both schools have a really solid football program and both are solid schools in general,” Gray said. “I would say that Clemson obviously had a better football season of course. But you know it was Coach (Will) Muschamp’s first year as head coach so I wouldn’t be surprised if they did better the next few years. In terms of the location I think Columbia is more of an urban feel and I think Clemson is more spread out. I thought both of the coaching staffs were pretty solid as well.”
Gray will be attending a combine in his hometown soon and has several other trips in mind.
“I will be attending The Opening here in Charlotte,” he said. “I am not sure but I might be going to the rivals and Under Armor camps, but I am not sure yet. I will be going to the Virginia Tech camp, South Carolina camp and most likely Clemson.
“I do not have exact dates for the school camps yet. And I am sure there will be other camps I will go to that we haven’t planned out yet.”
A spring visit to Clemson is in the plans to see the Tigers’ new football facility.
“I hope to get back in the spring, but if I don’t get back in the spring then I will probably tour them after a camp or something in the summer,” said Gray.
Which schools are recruiting the top defensive back the hardest right now?
“Penn St, BYU, Purdue, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, NC State, South Carolina and Clemson,” Gray said.
