This morning is not only a big day for the 10 or so former Clemson players who will be performing in front of over 100 NFL Scouts, coaches and general managers as part of Clemson Pro Day, but this is a big day for the defending national champions.
Clemson will be on display all morning on ESPN and the NFL Network as it hosts its annual Pro Day. The football program will get to show off its brand new $55 million Allen Reeves Football Complex which was opened in January.
“I’m excited. It should be a great day,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said. “I’m excited for our players. This is always a special day that they have earned. I appreciate Woody McCorvey. He really runs it for us and he does a phenomenal job in making this happen. If you talk to a lot of these guys they will tell you nobody does this better than Clemson. Woody is a big reason for that he just does a great job putting on a first class day.”
Clemson players that are expected to perform today included wide receiver Mike Williams, who did not run at the combine but will at Clemson’s Pro Day. Deshaun Watson is expected to throw. Running back Wayne Gallman, linebacker Ben Boulware, center Jay Guillermo, wide receiver Artavis Scott, defensive tackle Carlos Watkins, safety Jadar Johnson, tight end Jordan Leggett and cornerback Cordrea Tankersley are all expected to compete in front of all 32 NFL teams.
“We want to make their experience here is as good as it can possibly be and make sure they get all the information that they need,” Swinney said. “I’m just excited for our players and to see them have a chance to compete at home. A place they are comfortable at and do what they do.”
Clemson’s Pro Day on is expected to attract over 100 NFL scouts, coaches and general managers, while over 50 media will be in attendance, including live reports from ESPN and the NFL Network.
