It was all about Kelly Bryant’s style as the Clemson quarterback showed up dressed more for office work then an interview session with the media on Wednesday.
“I feel like as I get older, I want to start dressing more business casual,” Bryant said. “Part of me has to grow so this is another aspect I have been working on here, lately. So I’m trying to expand my wardrobe as well.”
Wearing a white shirt with pinstripes with a dark pair of slacks and a pair of brown shoes, Bryant was ready to talk about the top-ranked Tigers’ matchup with No. 4 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl as part of the College Football Playoff Semifinals.
However, the discussion turned to fashion and how much his style and look resembled that of Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.
“I definitely like his style and fashion,” Bryant said with a grin on his face. “A bunch of people, I didn’t see the tweets, were telling me that during the game the commentators were comparing me (to him). I have been getting that since my freshman year of high school so that is nothing that is new to me.”
But Bryant just doesn’t look the part as the quarterback of the nation’s No. 1 team, but he acts it too. He has played well all season and last Saturday he tied his career-high for completions in a game on 23-of-29 passing for 252 yards and a touchdown in earning ACC Championship MVP honors.
Bryant, who is 12-1 as a starter, is completing 67.4 percent of his passes for 2,678 yards. He has thrown 13 touchdown passes to just six interceptions. He has also rushed for 646 yards and 11 touchdowns.
