ROEBUCK, S.C. — K.J. Henry is just nine days away from announcing his college decision. But the Clemmons (N.C.) West Forsyth five-star defensive end is still taking it one step at a time.
Before he turns his full attention to deciding between Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia Tech on Dec. 20 — the first day of the early signing period — Henry wants to put his all into the 81st annual Shrine Bowl.
Practices for the Shrine Bowl began on Monday at Dorman High School, and Henry spoke with the media after the first session.
“This week comes first,” Henry said when asked about his upcoming decision. “I’m taking it in stages and enjoying the Shrine Bowl, going to the Shriners Hospital. That’s my first and foremost, having fun with these guys and taking South Carolina down on Saturday. That’s the first goal.
“Then those last couple of days are when we start thinking. I tell everybody, I haven’t really thought about it. I haven’t really decided. I’ll get 48 or so hours to think about it with the family. So that’s what those last days will be for.”
