Clemson’s latest scholarship offer went out this week to one of the top 2019 defensive linemen in the Lone Star State.
Converse (Texas) Judson four-star DeMarvin Leal was informed of his offer from the defending champs by defensive line coach Todd Bates.
“It feels great,” Leal told The Clemson Insider. “It’s truly a blessing.”
Leal (6-6, 280) said he began communicating with Bates about two months ago. He hopes to visit Clemson for the first time next fall.
Clemson’s brand continues to expand geographically, and though he lives more than 1,000 miles away from the school, Leal has heard plenty of good things about it.
“I hear there’s no other place like it,” he said, “and that it’s a very beautiful place.”
In addition to Clemson, Leal lists offers from Alabama, Baylor, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M and others.
Where do the Tigers stack up after throwing their hat in the ring?
“I kind of am still thinking about that,” Leal said, “but I do know they’re in my top five.”
In 12 games as a junior this season, Leal recorded 66 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, 26 quarterback hurries and four pass deflections.
He is ranked as a top-three defensive end in the state of Texas and a top-150 overall prospect in the 2019 class.
