Recruits weigh in on whether Clemson, Bama is better program

NEW ORLEANS — With a second consecutive national title, Clemson would establish itself as the new dynasty in college football. That dynasty crown currently belongs to Alabama, which has won four of the last eight national championships.

So, Monday night’s College Football Playoff semifinal at the Sugar Bowl will be a test of power between two of the best, if not the best, programs in the country. Any way you look at it, the Tigers and Crimson Tide are at the center of the elite program conversation.

But which school has the better program, as it stands right now entering the Sugar Bowl? The Clemson Insider reached out to a number of recruits for their takes:

Jordan Clark, 2019 4-star DB, Baton Rouge, La. (University Lab School): “If you take history into account you have to say Alabama because of the consistency they’ve had, but Clemson has really closed the gap”

Ramel Keyton, 2019 4-star WR, Marietta, Ga. (Marietta High): “That’s hard but I think I’m going to go with Bama”

Caedan Wallace, 2019 4-star OL, Princeton, N.J. (Hun School): “Clemson”

Noah Cain, 2019 5-star RB, Bradenton, Fla. (IMG Academy): “They both are top programs with many others”

Cam’Ron Kelly, 2019 4-star DB, Chesapeake, Va. (Oscar Smith High): “Clemson”

Trey Knox, 2019 4-star WR, Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Blackman High): “Clemson”

Jaquaze Sorrells, 2019 4-star DL, Largo, Fla. (Largo High): “They’re both great programs”

Steele Chambers, 2019 4-star ATH, Roswell, Ga. (Blessed Trinity Catholic School): “Clemson”

Tyrique Stevenson, 2019 4-star ATH, Homestead, Fla. (South Dade High): “Ughh that’s hard because both are at the top of their game”

Michel Dukes, 2019 3-star RB, Charleston, S.C. (First Baptist Church School): “I’d probably have to go with Bama on that one”

Chantz Williams, 2020 DE, Orange Park, Fla. (Oakleaf High): “They both possess great qualities which make them a great football program”

Bryn Tucker, 2020 OL, Knoxville, Tenn. (Knoxville Catholic High): “Clemson is hot right now but Alabama has their tradition”

Jalen Rivers, 2020 OL, Orange Park, Fla. (Oakleaf High): “I can’t really say. They are both great schools with fantastic programs”
