Tigers offer top junior quarterback prospect

Clemson’s first scholarship offer to a junior prospect in the 2018 calendar year went out to a talented quarterback from the Tar Heel State.

Monroe (N.C.) Sun Valley 2019 four-star Sam Howell announced his offer from the Tigers via social media Thursday night.

“Extremely grateful to announce that I have been offered by Clemson University!” Howell wrote in a post on Twitter.

Howell (6-1, 217) is regarded as one of the nation’s top pro-style signal-callers in the Class of 2019. In addition to Clemson, he holds offers from Duke, Kentucky, NC State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia among others.

Howell was one of the standout performers at the Dabo Swinney Camp last summer. He returned to Clemson on unofficial visits for the Auburn and Florida State games during the 2017 season.

Howell is a three-year starter at Sun Valley High. Through 37 career games, he has completed 59 percent of his passes while amassing 10,175 yards passing and throwing for 109 touchdowns.
