No. 1 Alabama recruit reacts to Clemson offer

Dazalin Worsham, the state of Alabama’s top-ranked sophomore prospect, got something on Friday that he has been waiting for — a scholarship offer from Clemson.

The wide receiver from Hewitt-Trussville got the good news during a phone conversation with Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and area recruiter Todd Bates.

“My coach told me to call coach (Todd) Bates and I did, and coach Bates and (Dabo) Swinney gave me the news,” Worsham told The Clemson Insider. “They said they told me it was coming and that I’ve been waiting for it, and that it is here and that I have an offer from Clemson.”

Just a sophomore in the class of 2020, Worsham (6-1, 170) already touts offers from many of the nation’s top programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee among others.

Despite the list of high-profile offers, his latest tender from the Tigers stands out.

“It feels great,” Worsham said of the Clemson offer. “It just means a lot to me because coach Swinney is a great coach and has something special at Clemson.”

After notching the offer, Worsham is now planning another visit to Clemson.

“I plan to be back on March 3rd,” he said.

Worsham visited Clemson for the first time last September when he witnessed the Tigers’ win over Boston College.

His experience on campus left a good impression, and Worsham says there’s a lot he likes about Clemson.

“The atmosphere, the facilities and really just everything about it,” he said.

With the offer, Clemson stacks up well in the early part of Worsham’s recruitment.

“Clemson is definitely one of the top (schools),” he said.

Worsham is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 10 wide receiver, the No. 1 prospect in Alabama and the No. 46 overall prospect in the 2020 class.

As a sophomore last season, Worsham grabbed 70 passes for 856 yards and nine touchdowns. He was named to the 2017 MaxPreps Sophomore All-American Team following the season.

Worsham is teammates at Hewitt-Trussville with 2019 four-star offensive tackle Pierce Quick, who visited Clemson for its elite junior day last weekend.
