Clemson defensive tackle Sterling Johnson announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he will transfer from Clemson.
Johnson, a redshirt sophomore, had nine tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks and a quarterback pressure in 83 snaps over eight games during the 2017 season.
As a redshirt freshman in 2016, the native of Clayton, N.C., recorded five tackles in 46 snaps across three games.
Johnson was ranked as the No. 109 player nationally and No. 4 player in North Carolina by ESPN coming out of Cleveland High School.
Johnson is the fourth Tiger to announce he is transferring to another school since the team got back from its Sugar Bowl loss to Alabama on Jan. 1. Backup quarterbacks Zerrick Cooper and Tucker Israel announced their plans to transfer last month, while reserve defensive tackle Jabril Robinson did the same last week. Several sources told The Clemson Insider on Monday that reserve tight end Shadell Bell is transferring, as well.
