Georgia’s No. 1 corner likes Clemson’s culture

D.J. Turner, the top-ranked 2019 cornerback in the Peach State, has visited Clemson often over the years for multiple games and sessions of the Dabo Swinney Camp.

The four-star from North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Ga., returned to Clemson again last month for the Tigers’ elite junior day.

The Clemson Insider caught up with Turner, who once again had a pleasurable experience at the school.

“I really enjoyed it,” Turner said.

Clemson’s coaching staff and culture made Turner feel comfortable while on campus.

“The coaches and how it felt like a family (stood out),” he said.

Turner (5-11, 170) spent the most time with a few coaches in particular during the visit.

“Coach Reed, coach Venables and coach Swinney,” he said.

What was their message to him?

“They were happy that I came and want me to be a Tiger,” Turner said.

Clemson extended an offer to Turner last July. He is ranked as the No. 1 cornerback in Georgia, No. 8 cornerback nationally and No. 117 overall prospect in the 2019 class by ESPN.

In addition to the Tigers, Turner lists offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Stanford and others.

Turner attended Georgia’s junior day last month as well.
