Hoping to get an early start to their college careers, almost all of Clemson’s 2015 commitments will enroll in January. Over the next few weeks, TheClemsonInsider will take an individual look at each player who will arrive next month.

Shadell Bell

Columbia-Decatur (GA)

3-Star WR (Scout, Rivals, 247)

His Background. Clemson picked up Bell’s commitment after the 52-6 win over The Citadel in 2013. Bell picked Clemson over offers from Alabama, Duke, Mississippi State, N.C. State, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Several other offers rolled in after his pledge, but Bell remained firm with the decision.

Quick Analysis. To go along with his already solid frame (6-3, 190), Bell has a very sure set of hands. He also does a good job of using his body to shield off defenders while making the catch. All of those traits could add up to Bell becoming a reliable option in the red zone or on third-down. Bell could improve his downfield speed and quickness in and out of his breaks while running routes.

This Spring. Bell could end up playing a couple of different positions at Clemson: 5 or 9. While his speed and athleticism may not quite match what Jaron Brown, Adam Humphries, Charone Peake and Germone Hopper have displayed the 5, Bell’s size and ball skills could make him a contributor at the position. Peake and Hopper are expected to enter and exit the spring as the top two players at the 5, so a redshirt could be in Bell’s future.
