His Background. For a while, it appeared that Giella would be SEC bound. Though he grew up rooting for South Carolina, that didn’t carryover into his recruiting process. LSU enjoyed a time as Giella’s leader with Ole Miss running second. Clemson eventually took over the top spot and never lost control.

Quick Analysis. After working at offensive tackle for the first three years of his high school career, Giella spent his senior season playing center. Before leaving for SMU, Chad Morris told Giella that he would get his first look at center. It remains to be seen where Jeff Scott and Tony Elliott would like to see Giella this spring, but he could play a number of positions, including right tackle and left guard.

This Spring. Giella will be behind a pair of upperclassmen if he’s at center this spring. Ryan Norton and Jay Guillermo will continue their 1-on-1 battle for the first-team job. Assuming they remain healthy, Giella could be in line for a redshirt in 2015.
