Simpson spends three days in Clemson

For the last three days, four-star offensive lineman [autotag]John Simpson[/autotag] was the center of attention in Clemson.

The rising senior from Fort Dorchester arrived for the [autotag]Dabo Swinney Football Camp[/autotag] on Monday and hung around the campus for two more days.

“It was pretty good, I had a good time,” Simpson told TheClemsonInsider, after he left on Wednesday afternoon.

Listed by 247 as the No. 3 offensive guard in the class of 2016, Simpson said the best part of his experience was the work he got in with offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell.

“He knows about it. He’s older, so he’s been around the game for a while. I guess you can’t go wrong with a coach that’s older, more mature with the game,” Simpson said.

Swinney let Simpson know that he was ready for him to jump on board with the Tigers’ 2016 class.

“He was kind of pressuring it a little bit,” Simpson said. “We’re getting to that point, I guess. (Swinney) was telling me how important I would be to the program and how much I fit in, stuff like that.”

The Clemson head coach wasn’t the only one.

“It was pretty crazy, because even the fans were telling me, even the players that weren’t there any more, but were working the camp, even they were telling me how good it would be to be a Tiger,” Simpson said.

On Friday, Simpson is scheduled to visit South Carolina. He’s also planning summer trips to Georgia, LSU and Tennessee, but no dates have been scheduled.

“I think it’s going to be a while and do it after I get the visits in,” Simpson said, when asked about a timetable for his commitment.

Before visiting Clemson, Simpson camped at Alabama with his teammate, 2018 quarterback Dakereon Joyner.

“It was pretty good. I enjoyed myself,” Simpson said.
