Joyner: I will play quarterback

Kereon Joyner was on campus this week for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp and The Clemson Insider caught up with the 4-star prospect to get his thoughts on Clemson and much more.

“I really enjoyed the camp, just hanging around with Coach (Tony) Elliott, the staff and Coach (Brandon) Streeter,” said Joyner.

Joyner has improved his game at quarterback since attending the Dabo Swinney Camp last summer.

“I have improved my decision making, my release time, my mechanics and my height and weight,” said Joyner.

The Fort Dorchester High School standout is building a strong relationship with Clemson quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter.

“It is pretty strong. I call him from time to time. We just sit and chat,” said Joyner.

During the visit Joyner spent a lot of time with some future Tigers.

“I hung around Hunter (Johnson) at night for a while. I also hung out with Amari (Rodgers) and Chase,” he said.

There are three more visits are in the plans for the summer for Joyner.

“I am going to Ole Miss and UNC for sure. I am also going to try to get to Virginia Tech,” he said.

Do any of the schools stand out from the others?

“Not really. I haven’t gotten to go out and explore a lot due to my surgery. All of the schools are about the same. They all want me at quarterback except Clemson,” Joyner said.

The rising junior was disappointed Clemson did not offer him as a quarterback after the camp visit.

“They didn’t come out and say it, but I know they are beating around the bush. They would like me to play safety or another position. I was hoping they would re-offer me as a QB, but they didn’t. They have offered me as an athlete,’ said Joyner.

Joyner made it clear he plans to play quarterback and that will be a big factor in his decision.

“I am one hundred percent sure. I want to play quarterback. I know I want to play quarterback and I will play quarterback,,” he said.

Joyner enjoyed his visit to Clemson and remains hopeful that the quarterback offer could come in the future from the Tigers.
