5-star Higgins, family had great visit with Jeff Scott

Out on the recruiting trail on Tuesday, Clemson co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach Jeff Scott made a stop in Oak Ridge, Tenn., to see five-star wide receiver commitment Tee Higgins.

Higgins, his family and Scott ate lunch at a local pizzeria, and Scott attended Higgins’ basketball game at Oak Ridge High that evening.

“It went good!” Higgins said of his visit with Scott. “It’s always good to have coach Scott come by.”

With Scott watching, Higgins and Oak Ridge defeated Powell 78-68 on the basketball court to start the season 6-0.

“It’s going good right now,” Higgins said of his season.

Higgins said his family had a good time with Scott, as well.

“They enjoyed it a lot,” Higgins said.

On Jan. 1, Higgins will compete in the 10th-annual Under Armour All-America game, which will take place at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla., and be televised live on ESPN.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pounder is excited to take part in the prestigious contest.

“Very,” Higgins said. “Can’t wait to compete with the best of the best.”

Higgins committed to Clemson on July 4.

In late November, Higgins won Tennessee’s Mr. Football Back of the Year award in the 5A classification after catching 59 passes for 901 yards and 17 touchdowns while leading his team to a 9-2 record during his senior regular season.
