Clemson makes cut for 5-star target

Phenix City (Ala.) Central five-star wide receiver Justyn Ross released his top five schools on social media Sunday night.

Clemson made the cut, along with Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Florida State.

In April, Ross announced a top 11 of Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Southern Cal. After his mother returned home from service with the National Guard in Kuwait recently, they began the process of further narrowing down his recruitment.

Ross (6-4, 197) received an offer from Clemson on March 28 and visited for the first time two weeks later, before publicly saying that it was β€œone of the best” visits he has been on. He most recently visited Clemson on June 9 with his mother.

Along with his top five, Ross owns offers from Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee and Southern Cal among others.

As a junior coming off an ACL injury last season, Ross recorded 38 receptions for 663 yards and eight touchdowns.

He is ranked as a five-star recruit, top-five receiver and top-25 overall prospect by Rivals, Scout and 247Sports.
