Tigers land big commitment

Class of 2020 right-handed pitcher/middle infielder Alex Edmondson gave a verbal commitment to head coach Monte Lee and Clemson on Friday.

Edmondson, who hails from Mauldin High in Simpsonville, S.C., had offers from Georgia Tech and N.C. State as well as interest from a number of other schools. He is ranked as the No. 53 player in the country in his class and the top right-handed pitching prospect in South Carolina by Perfect Game.

Edmondson competed in Perfect Game’s WWBA 2020 Grads or 15u National Championship earlier this month. He posted a 1.10 ERA in tournament play along with a .312 batting average, a home run, 12 RBI and a stolen base.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder is up to 89 miles per hour on the mound.
