Baseball season is back so it’s time for the first edition of The Clemson Insider’s weekly baseball wrap.

Clemson is off to its first 3-0 start since 2010, and will host Furman today at 4 p.m. at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

TCI Hitter-of-the Week                No. 25 Patrick Cromwell

The senior infielder from Costa Mesa, CA went 3-for-8 (.375) in three games last weekend. Cromwell had a double, three RBI, and two walks with a .500 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage.

TCI Pitcher-of-the-Week              #24 Jake Higginbotham

The redshirt sophomore from Hoschton, GA was outstanding Sunday in his first appearance since April 2016. After carrying a perfect game into the sixth inning, Higginbotham finished by allowing a run on two hits (.111 OBA) with no walks and three strikeouts in 5.1 innings to earn his first win of the season.

Weekend Notes:

Clemson, ranked as high as No. 11 in the country, swept William & Mary last weekend at Doug Kingsmore Stadium to open the 2018 season. The Tigers outscored the Tribe 14-11 while outhitting them .230 (20 hits) to .192 (20 hits). On the weekend, Clemson had six doubles, a homer, 20 walks, and five HBPs against 18 strikeouts while going 3-5 on stolen bases. The Tiger pitching staff finished the weekend with a 3.54 ERA, allowing 11 runs (11 earned) in 28.0 innings with two walks against 36 strikeouts. Clemson fielded at a .991 clip, committing one error in 112 chances.
