Clemson officially opens its softball stadium

Dan Radakovich was not on the job 30 minutes when was hired back in 2012 to be Clemson’s Athletic Director when he received not one, but two emails from fans wanting to know when Clemson was going to start a softball program.

Well, it took nearly seven years, but Radakovich finally granted those fans and thousands more their wishes. Clemson officially cut the ribbon on the Clemson Softball Stadium Friday in Clemson with a ceremony which included Clemson administrators, IPTAY donors, the IPTAY Board and members of the Board of Trustees.

Radakovich, along with Clemson University President Jim Clements, head coach John Rittman and student athletes M.K. Bonamy and Cammy Pereira officially cut the tape to open the facility.

Also, Radakovich announced 95 percent of the stadium seating has already been sold. The Tigers open the program on Feb. 7 against St. John’s at the UCF Black & Gold Tournament in Orlando. They will host their first ever game in Clemson on Feb. 12 against Western Carolina.
