One of Florida State’s wide receivers that Clemson’s defense will have to worry about trying to contain in Saturday’s game is Johnny Wilson, who leads the Seminoles with 209 receiving yards so far this season.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked during his media availability after Wednesday’s practice who is playing the 6-foot-7, 237-pound Wilson on the Tigers’ scout team.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have one of them guys,” Swinney said with a smile. “So, we try to make the best of it over there. We got a good little group of wideouts that do a good job for us. (Walk-ons) Davian (Sullivan) and (Michael) Mankaka, that’s kind of our taller guys. Charlie Johnson, another tall kid over there. But we don’t have a No. 14, that’s for sure.”

Swinney joked that he “probably should have” asked Clemson men’s basketball head coach Brad Brownell for a player from his hoops team to emulate the massive FSU receiver target in Wilson.

“Probably wouldn’t let me have ‘em, though,” Swinney said.

If Brownell would, though, Swinney would love to get 6-foot-7 Clemson forward Ian Schieffelin.

The Tigers’ head man is clearly a big fan.

“That’s my guy right there,” Swinney said. “When he gets done with basketball, I’m gonna get him out here for D-end, tight end. He’s a football player over there playing basketball. I love that guy. He’s the (Hunter) Renfrow of our basketball team – just good player, smart, tough. He’d be a great football player. There’s another kid out there, but I’ve mentioned that to Brad. He didn’t like that. So, I’ll leave him alone.”
