CLEMSON – The Clemson Insider went around Clemson this week and asked students their score predictions and overall comments heading into Saturday’s game against No. 4 Florida State.
Here are some comments on what some of Clemson’s student body thinks about the ACC Showdown at Memorial Stadium.
–Senior biology major Megan Hardy predicts that the Seminoles will finish on top of the Tigers, with the final score being 35-21. “I think Clemson will do better than in past games since we’ve been improving as a whole these past few weeks,” she said, “but I’m still not sure if we can get past this hurdle of Florida State.”
–Senior industrial engineering major Preston Pettway is also anticipating a tight matchup on Saturday but has Clemson on top 28-24. Pettway thinks that “the game will start out slow for both teams. Going into the half, FSU will be winning 10-7. Eventually, in the third quarter, Clemson will have a huge momentum shift with a defensive turnover to help them take the lead and eventually win the game.”
–Senior history major Lauren Mistretta forecasts Clemson winning, 35-31. “I think it’s going to be a really close game. The atmosphere of Death Valley is going to make or break how we play. [Us students] have to keep the crowd loud and the energy high like the Florida Atlantic game if we want a shot at winning.”
–Senior history major Derian Richardson provided an explanation to defend his prediction of Clemson beating FSU, 42-28. “Jordan Travis is one of the best quarterbacks in the country right now.” He also mentioned two other key players that will be a threat to the Tigers, wide receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson. But he foresees wide receiver Tyler Brown having a great game, as well as wide receiver Beaux Collins.
–Junior Finance major McKenzie Murphy thinks that it will be a low-scoring game in Death Valley on Saturday, with Clemson winning, 21-14. “Clemson’s defense is extremely solid, which is why I don’t predict it to be a high-scoring game.”
–Senior economics major Jack McGregor has the Tigers beating the Seminoles 32-27. According to McGregor, “Clemson will contain big plays from FSU and will prevent the deep ball.”
–Senior chemistry major Lauren Ulisse predicts that the score will be a tight one, with Clemson winning 35-34 against Florida State. “I think that Clemson has a chance of beating FSU, especially after watching them struggle against Boston College. I think this one will be a close game. Clemson really needs to be on their game for them to stay in the fight.”
–Senior marketing major Gabi Villicana thinks Florida State will beat Clemson, 28-14. Villicana, who has watched Florida State’s past few games, said that their offense is going to pose a dangerous threat to Clemson’s defense. “I think Jordan Travis is going to deliver and will shine, and Cade won’t be able to keep up.”
–Senior accounting major Jake Jones anticipates Clemson will get by with a 28-27 win over the Seminoles. He predicts the Tigers will be down 24-7 at half, and in the second half, quarterback Cade Klubnik and freshman wide receiver Tyler Brown will combine for two touchdown connections to bring the Tigers back in the game. He also foresees Florida State missing a 53-yard field goal attempt as time expires.
