Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave an injury update on a true freshman running back during his weekly Tuesday press conference.
Swinney was asked about Jay Haynes, who was in a walking boot prior to last Saturday’s game vs. Florida State.
“Ankle sprain, so hopefully we’ll get him back here soon as well,” Swinney said.
Haynes has appeared in two games this season, playing 14 total snaps across the Charleston Southern and Florida Atlantic games.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder scored twice vs. CSU, including a rushing touchdown among his four carries for 28 yards and a 6-yard receiving touchdown. He then rushed twice for 7 yards and caught a 14-yard pass vs. FAU.
Haynes, who averaged more than 10 yards per carry in his final two seasons at Alabama’s Handley High School, enrolled at Clemson this past summer after signing with the program last December.
