They Said it! Clemson at Syracuse

CLEMSON – Each week the media for the Clemson Tigers gets to hear from head coach Dabo Swinney and a few select players. The media also gets to hear what the opponent has said about the upcoming game.

Here are a few of the best quotes from the Tigers and the Syracuse Orange as they prepare for their noon kick at Syracuse on Saturday.

Syracuse’s Garrett Shrader is confident playing Clemson:

“We’re talented enough and we can do it. If we show up ready to play on Saturday, we can go out and beat these guys.”

Clemson’s Dabo Swinney on the confidence of his defense:

“Our defense is incredibly confident because of the work they put in. We are freaking good. This defense has played their tails off. They should be a top 10 scoring defense, but they are not because our offense has scored a bunch of points against them.”

Syracuse’s Dino Babers on Garrett Shrader’s history with Clemson:

“I don’t know when you say they’ve given him much trouble, Garrett (Shrader) has had decent games against Clemson.”

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik after FSU loss:

“Being up here for five hours on Sunday, guys running, getting in the weight room, watching film…responding to getting back into this facility on days that we don’t have to be and wanting to respond, that’s what I’ve seen.”

Clemson safety Jaylen Philips on QB comparison between Syracuse’s Garrett Shrader and FSU’s Jordan Travis:

“Shrader is a little bigger…he likes to run too. He likes to use his legs and throw the deep ball as well, so we have to be prepared for that, really cage him and have him inside the box as much as possible and not let him get comfortable in his run game. It’s a big challenge for us for sure, we got to prepare for it.”

Why did Clemson’s Ruke Orhorhoro say Shrader was annoying?

“Keeping him in the pocket, a mobile quarterback is very annoying to the defense, but it’s just a challenge to the D-Line to keep him in the pocket and not let him scramble and extend plays with his legs. So, it’s our job to keep him in the pocket and in the box and get him down as soon as possible.”

Syracuse’s Isaiah Johnson on playing Clemson with a 4-0 record:

“It’s exciting…it’s one of those games you pray for. It doesn’t take much to get up in the morning because you’re just ready to go out there and play football.”
